PMH Council recently exhibited their review of parking in the town centre. It proposed little other than reducing parking times and gave no consideration to bicycle parking nor cyclist safety around our heavily parked up streets. Cycling down Horton St during the day with cars reversing into spaces, the curbs extending into the street at intervals, car doors swinging open in your path and drivers becoming inpatient is a tragedy waiting to happen. We all appreciate the need for driving into the city centre at times but felt we should advocate for easier and safer access by bicycle, to reduce traffic congestion, and more secure bicycle parking. Here’s our submission.
