This gem of a route links the western end of Crestwood Drive to the centre of Port Macquarie. It’s just over 8 km long with 4 km of that being on the Googik Track. But the real beauty of this ride is that there is only a little over 100 m of on street riding! The rest is on shared paths all the way into Town Green. Click here for a detailed description.
The Googik Track winds its way through eucalypt and melaleuca forest, alive with native animals including: wallabies, kangaroos, echidnas and koalas. From Crestwood Ave take the path down to the bridge. Here you negotiate the partially open gate and continue along this track. There are no side tracks to turn down on this route, so stay on this main track and it will eventually take you to Lake Road.
As you come out to Lake Road, the path turns right taking you to the lights where you can cross to the shared path along Ocean Drive. This shared path will take you along Ocean Drive to Kooloonbung Crescent which links up to the shared path that follows Kooloonbung Creek. From here it’s on to the shared path along Gordon Street to the Kooloonbung Creek Nature Park. A sharp right turn into the park puts you onto another path which you follow towards the creek. You then curve around right following the path and end up going under Gordon Street using the underpass.
If you continue along this path it will eventually lead to Town Green. Along the way you’ll experience another new underpass under Buller Street and pass by the wharf area. From here the path narrows somewhat as it follows the Hastings River to its mouth.
Please remember to be mindful of pedestrians at all times. It is considered a courtesy to give them space, slow down and sound your bell as you approach. Above all, enjoy!
