The Beach to Beach Shared Path is an evolving route that goes from North Haven to Pilot Beach at Dunbogan along the shores of the Camden Haven River. At 11 km long (one way) it’s a mostly flat ride suitable for riders of all abilities.
New works on the Dunbogan side of the river have seen a new boardwalk and creek crossing that take the rider off the shoulder and away from the road. There is still some on-road riding as work is not yet completed. Click here for a detailed description.
Follow the path from North Haven inland along the Camden Haven Inlet. The route is very popular with walkers as well as cyclists and at times quite narrow along here. After approximately 3 Km you will reach the bridge at Ocean Dr. Take care as it’s a steep slope going up onto the bridge.
The route winds its way along the edge of Laurieton before crossing the inlet at Reid St. Take care going from the car park onto the path here. Again the path is narrow over the bridge so you may need to time it well if there is foot or cycle traffic coming the other way. Once over the bridge, you’re back on a shared path. At the time of writing the new section over the water has been opened and the shared path goes all the way to Dunbogan Reserve.
When you reach the reserve, follow Camden Head Rd around to the right. There is no path from now on so take care. Continue along Camden head Rd until you reach Pilot Beach Rd where you will turn left. Continue on this road until you reach the car park. From here you can either turn left to ride to the inlet and look across the water to where you started from, or continue straight to the beach. There are toilets and picnic tables here.
Remember to use your bell, give way to pedestrians and be courteous at all times. Above all, enjoy!
